About Scott Savell A native of Belzoni, Mississippi, Ch. Scott Savell and his wife, Susanne, live in Southern Illinois, near St Louis, Missouri, where Scott serves as a Southern Baptist Chaplain and Missionary. They have several children, all of whom are at home with the Lord. He looks forward to the day when Christ returns for His Church or calls him home, whichever comes first. He wants to see Christ and then his children. Everyone else can go to the back of the line!
Having served churches in Mississippi and Kentucky, as well as having represented Christ in countries around the world, Scott’s passion is God’s glory and his life’s vision and mission is Treasuring Christ, Making Disciples, and Finishing Well. While many so called preachers and Bible teachers have turned to human wisdom in an heretical attempt to accommodate the culture, Scott continues to preach and teach God’s Word verse-by-verse. As a result he has witnessed miraculous change, not only in his own life, but in the lives of others. The Bible says, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ” (Rom. 10:18). He is a graduate of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv) and Mississippi College (BS).
Scott’s life verse is, “Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you have been called” (1 Tim. 6:12). His paraphrase of this verse is, “Fight for Joy,” a phrase he borrowed from Dr. John Piper—at least that’s where he thinks he got it. With that phrase in mind, he sums up his walk with Christ with the words of the Apostle Paul: “according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or death” (Phil. 1:20). In other words, whether he lives or dies means little to him, but that he might glorify Christ either way. Furthermore, he earnestly believes Christ’s return for His Church is imminent and prays daily for this event. These themes appear often in his preaching and writing. He writes often for The Belzoni Banner, the Mississippi Delta’s premier news journal. All of his articles, known as Thoughts to Ponder, appear on his blog. |
