"Let us run with endurance the race set before us" (Heb. 12:1). The Greek word used here for "endurance" (hypomonē), means the steady determination to keep going, regardless of the temptation to slow down or give up. After years of running the race--and running hard most of the time--I am tempted to slow down and give up. But I am reminded there is a reward waiting at the finish line, and like Paul, I want to finish well. Do you want to finish well? Then commit to running with "endurance" the race God has set before you!

We all encounter problems, or what the Bible calls trials or tribulation. Jesus said, “In the world you have tribulation.” (John 16:33) In other words, Jesus was testifying to the fact that in this life we will encounter much difficulty.
